Product Spotlight: Multiport Selector Valve (MSV)
Overview
The Multiport Selector Valve (MSV) is an engineering marvel designed to offer a cost-effective and compact solution for improving production management and well optimization. The MSV’s unique capability allows it to divert fluids from a single flow line to a test outlet or a sampling device efficiently.
Key Features
- Compact Design: The MSV’s compact design reduces installation costs and features a single basic moving part, minimizing maintenance requirements.
- Self-Cleaning Mechanism: Prevents the accumulation of scale, paraffin, and other deposits, ensuring smooth operation.
- Leakage Prevention: Fewer sealing surfaces translate to reduced opportunities for leakage.
- Flexible Operation: Available in both manual and automated versions, with the option to add automation at any stage.
- Enhanced Capacity: With 8 inlet ports, the MSV can manifold up to 8 flow lines simultaneously, making it an efficient addition to any well-test system.
- Field Adjustable Seal: Includes a stainless steel scraper for extended service life.
- Suited for Multiphase Meters: Especially suitable for use with multiphase meters.
- Remote Control: Available with two-wire communication for remote control and status indication.
- Compliance: Constructed to applicable parts of API 599.
- Isolation Valves Reduction: Reduces the number of isolation valves in production/test manifolds.
- Operating Temperature Range: -20° F to +392° F (-29° C to +200° C).
- Versatile Trims and Surface Treatments: Available with a multitude of trims and surface treatments for all operating environments.
Applications
The Multiport Selector Valve can be employed in a variety of oil and gas or process applications:
- Standalone device or integrated with a multiphase meter
- Water injection for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) projects
Advantages
- Reduces installation, operation, and maintenance costs over the system’s lifecycle
- Ensures reliable and efficient production management
Materials and Specifications

Other materials such as steel 316 and duplex, or Electroless Nickel Coating are also used as per client specifications
ACTUATOR:
A control system with an electric motor (24VDC 120-480VAC 50-60Hz, Class 1, Div 2, Groups CyD) and a human-machine interface. The network control uses Modbus, and it is housed in a hazardous atmosphere enclosure. The actuator provides continuous 360-degree drive, a gearbox, and a manual override.
It combines an exclusive solid-state motor starter with control software to provide precise positioning of the Multiport Flow Selector within +/- 1.5 degrees of the selected port, retaining that position even in the event of a power loss. The actuator offers a configurable port selection from 2 to 10 ports, with an LCD display indicating the port number and showing port movements.
Control can be executed via local selectors, a remote-mounted control station, or a MODBUS network. Local and remote control allows for indexing the ports up or down, while MODBUS control selects the desired port. The actuator chooses the fastest path to the desired port position in bidirectional mode, ensuring no incremental positioning error by re-synchronizing each time the actuator passes through port I.
The actuator allows for the selection of any port as a home port or the option to skip any unused ports. Designed for harsh and hazardous environments, the MSV Actuator includes a manual override for use upon power loss and is versatile with a range of voltages—three-phase, singlephase, and DC.
