The VEGAPULS 6X radar sensor is designed for continuous level measurement of both liquids and bulk solids. The compact fitting process provides specific benefits for liquids stored in small tanks or in tight mounting spaces. The unparalleled signal focusing makes it suitable for use in vessels with numerous installations like stirrers and heating coils.
In the case of bulk solids in various process conditions, this device is ideal for level measurement in very tall silos, large bunkers, and segmented vessels. The VEGAPULS 6X comes with either an encapsulated plastic antenna or a lens antenna integrated into the metal flange for this purpose.

The VEGAPULS 6X is used in almost all industrial sectors and applications. Its configuration and setup are straightforward, allowing easy selection and adaptation based on specific application needs.

Function
The device emits either a continuous radar signal or very short microwave pulses, depending upon the measuring frequency of its antenna.
This signal is then reflected by the medium being measured and received as an echo by the antenna.
The difference in frequency between the transmitted and received signals, or the time it takes for the signals to travel from transmission to reception, is directly proportional to the distance and correlates with the filling height.
The measured filling height is then converted into an appropriate output signal and presented as a measured value.
