KPC Cryogenic Ball Valve

KPC Cryogenic Ball Valve: Reliable Flow Control for Extreme Cryogenic Applications

Cryogenic applications require specialized valves capable of delivering safe and reliable performance under extremely low temperatures. KPC Cryogenic Ball Valves are engineered for the production, transportation, storage, and handling of liquefied gases including LNG, oxygen, nitrogen, and argon. These valves are designed for service temperatures down to -196°C (-320°F), making them suitable for demanding low-temperature process environments.

Supplied by Hatta Trading & Services, KPC Cryogenic Ball Valves combine specialized cryogenic engineering, carefully selected materials, extended bonnet construction, maintainable configurations, and comprehensive testing. The valves are suitable for LNG, oil and gas, petrochemical, and industrial gas applications where dependable isolation and flow control are essential.

Extended Bonnet Design for Cryogenic Service

One of the important features of the KPC Cryogenic Ball Valve is its extended bonnet design. The extended bonnet provides sufficient gas-column length between the cryogenic fluid and the stem sealing area. This helps keep the stem packing primarily exposed to vapor instead of extremely cold liquid.

By supporting the integrity of the stem sealing area under severe cryogenic conditions, the design contributes to dependable valve operation. This configuration is particularly suitable for LNG liquefaction plants, receiving terminals, cargo systems, and other facilities handling liquefied gases.

Top-Entry Design for Easier Maintenance

Maintenance is a critical consideration in industrial process systems. KPC Cryogenic Ball Valves are available in top-entry configurations designed to support in-line maintenance.

The ball and seat can be removed through the bonnet, reducing the need to remove the complete valve from the pipeline. This allows easier inspection and component replacement while improving maintainability for critical process applications.

For facilities where minimizing maintenance complexity is important, a top-entry cryogenic ball valve can provide practical advantages while supporting reliable process isolation.

Cryogenic-Grade Materials and Sealing Options

Material selection is essential for valve performance at extremely low temperatures. KPC uses materials selected to support mechanical strength, corrosion resistance, and sealing performance in cryogenic service.

The valve construction includes forged austenitic stainless steel bodies and bonnets along with austenitic stainless steel wetted parts. Stem options include stainless steel, high-manganese steel, and high-performance nickel alloys. PCTFE soft seats, PTFE Chevron or VOC packing arrangements, graphite secondary packing options, and different sealing arrangements are also available depending on service requirements.

Proven Cryogenic Qualification Testing

Performance validation is particularly important when valves are intended for critical low-temperature applications. KPC performs dedicated functional testing under actual cryogenic conditions.

Testing examples include a 10-inch Class 150 side-entry ball valve tested at -196°C and 20 bar, as well as a 20-inch Class 900 top-entry ball valve tested at -196°C and 104 bar. Hydrostatic, seat leakage, and functional testing are also performed on pressure-containing components. Additional testing capabilities include high-pressure gas, packing-emission, cryogenic, and advanced functional testing.

Multiple Configurations for Different Applications

KPC offers a broad range of cryogenic ball valve configurations, including side-entry floating ball valves, side-entry trunnion ball valves, three-piece forged trunnion valves, top-entry floating ball valves, top-entry trunnion ball valves, and wedge-seal floating configurations.

Pressure classes include ASME Class 150, 300, 600, 900, and 1500, with valve sizes available across different configurations. This range provides flexibility when selecting a valve for specific pressure, size, and process requirements.

Designed for Critical Cryogenic Applications

KPC applies engineering tools such as Finite Element Analysis and CATIA 3D parametric design for design analysis and verification. Its vertically integrated production system covers material production through final assembly and in-house testing. Quality and verification processes include radiographic, ultrasonic, magnetic-particle, liquid-penetrant, chemical, tensile, bend, hardness, and Charpy testing at ambient and cryogenic temperatures.

The valves are manufactured according to applicable API, ANSI, ASME, and BS requirements, with referenced standards including API 6D, API 598, API 607, ASME B16.34, ASME B16.5, and BS 6364. KPC also operates an ISO 9001-certified quality management system.

Applications of KPC Cryogenic Ball Valves

KPC Cryogenic Ball Valves are suitable for LNG liquefaction plants, LNG receiving terminals, LNG storage and cargo systems, oil and gas processing facilities, petrochemical plants, industrial gas installations, oxygen service, nitrogen and argon systems, and cryogenic storage and transfer systems.

With cryogenic-grade materials, extended bonnet technology, flexible configurations, comprehensive testing, and recognized design standards, KPC Cryogenic Ball Valves provide a dependable solution for demanding low-temperature flow isolation. Supplied by Hatta Trading & Services, these engineered valve solutions support critical oil and gas, LNG, petrochemical, and industrial applications across the UAE.
